Delhi Falls to Hartwick 3-0 Under the Lights Wednesday Night

Delhi - The Broncos took on Hartwick College Wednesday night in a physical battle but dropped their third game of the year 3-0. The loss snapped the Broncos four-game unbeaten streak.

"Hartwick is an extremely well coached team. It is really great to have such good non-conference competition within thirty minutes of our campus, said head coach E.J. Reutemann, "I thought we started hesitantly and made small mistakes in our decision making that caused us to have to chase the game for the entirety of the night. We couldn't find the breakthrough moment to pull within one and without that goal, all the pressure remained on us."

Delhi started off the match strong and in control until a string of plays found Hartwick up in the 15th minute. They kept battling through the half but were down 2-0 going into the break.

Delhi struggled to break down the tough Hartwick defense, putting up nine total shots with two on goal. Both shots on goal came in the first half as the Broncos were left chasing the Hawks. Goalkeeper, Tucker Garrett was busy throughout the night with 10 total saves, including some incredible efforts to keep Delhi close. The Hawks would close out with another late goal to go up 3-0 before the final buzzer went off. Delhi failed to find the back of the net for the first time in six matches.

"I know tonight will be one of those eye-opening experiences that shows us how precious each moment and decision can be in the success of any season," said Reutemann, "We have made it to October and from here on out our sole focus is on the NAC."

The Broncos will turn their attention to Saturday when they take on conference opponents Cazenovia at 1 pm at Neil Riddell Field.
