Delhi Falls for the First Time this Season, Losing 1-0 to Elmira

Delhi - The Broncos (2-1-0) battled the whole 90 minutes against Elmira but unfortunately couldn't find their second-half magic again, falling for the first time this year. Just one goal was the difference between the Broncos and the Soaring Eagles as neither group could pull away.

"A tremendous amount of effort was made by the group today. Elmira spread the field really well and made it difficult to keep up with the spaces that needed to be covered," said head coach E.J. Reutemann, "We wanted to have a bit more quality on the ball and in possession in the final third."

After finding themselves down in the 22nd minute, the Broncos were left trying to get level. Delhi had their chances but couldn't capitalize on their eight total shots on target.

"Our back line and goalkeeper put on a solid display to keep us in the game to give us a chance to find the tying goal," said Reutemann, "We will take the moments we can learn from over the next three days heading into Sunday's important contest."

The second half was a stalemate with both teams' defenses winning the battle. The chances were slim in the second, but Delhi had five total shots. Anthony Cuellar and Michael Williams Jr. led the way for Delhi with a combined six shots throughout the game. In goal, Tucker Garrett was solid once again stopping four shots.

The Broncos will now look to bounce back against SUNY ESF on September 11th at 1 pm back at Neil Riddell Field.
