Delhi Kicks Off Conference Play with 5 Broncos Scoring Goals

Delhi's (4-2,1-0) offensive explosion helped push past the Badgers 5-3 with season-high five goals. Four Broncos scored their first goal of the season as Delhi was clinical in front of the net, scoring five goals on 12 shots on goal.

The Broncos jumped out the gate, scoring just 44 seconds into the match when Michael Williams Jr. scored his fourth goal of the year. They were on the attack most of the day with three goals in the first half. Freshman Defender Vaughn Bottex and midfielder Kevin Sikorski joined the first-half goal party adding their first goals of the season.

"I thought in the first half that we lacked quality on the ball. I think the combination of having a few players out of the lineup and the first game on grass provided a real challenge for us," said head coach E.J. Reutemann, "We responded great in the second half even after the penalty going 3-2 to push ahead and finish the job. It's fantastic to see players getting their first ever career goals and being rewarded for their hard work, especially in a winning team effort."

NVU-Johnson scored their second goal of the night three minutes into the second half, bringing the match to within one. But the Broncos didn't let up another goal for the rest of the game and poured on two more of their own. Erik Kleczkowski was another Bronco to score his first goal of the season. The sophomore had a solid game as later he would assist on Derek Fuentes's first goal of the season in the 66th minute.

Eric Manta and Julio Fernandez-Suarez both set up goals for the Broncos. Delhi boasts its first five-goal game since last year on September 18th. While the defense played a huge role in keeping the Badgers in check, giving up only three shots on goal.

They will now face non-conference opponent Clarks Summit at 4 pm Tuesday, September 20th at home. Then will get back into conference action with an away match at Husson on September 24th.
