Broncos push three past Cobleskill in final regular season NAC match

Cobleskill, NY - Delhi Women's Soccer faced SUNY Cobleskill in a North Atlantic Conference match on the road, securing victory against the Fighting Tigers with three impressive goals from Shaniyah Myers, Reanen Goodspeed and Kayla Beers. The Broncos now have a (3-1-2) record in the division and currently hold second place in the standings.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 

  • Shaniyah Myers (North Babylon, NY) put the Broncos on top in the ninth minute, scoring her eighth goal of the season with a long-distance shot that deflected off a defender and found the back of the net. 

  • Throughout the first half, Delhi dominated possession, outshooting Cobleskill 12-2. 

  • In the second half, senior Reanen Goodspeed (Morris, NY) extended their lead just 11 minutes in with a long-range strike from outside the box, marking her first goal of the season. 

  • Delhi then scored an impressive team goal to finalize the match's score. Goodspeed, set up by Myers, delivered an excellent cross which senior Kayla Beers (East Meredith, NY) slotted home from within the box, securing her third goal of the season. 

  • The Broncos continued to outshoot the Tigers and apply pressure, ending the match with 33 shots to their 3. 

  • Freshman Vanessa Sanchez (Jurupa Valley, CA) anchored the Delhi backline in their sixth shutout of the year, improving Sanchez's season record to (5-3-1). 

UP NEXT FOR THE BRONCOS  

Delhi Women's Soccer will be back home next on Saturday, October 21st when they host non-conference SUNY ESF in their final match of the season. The team will also recognize seniors Alanna Ruchar, Kayla Beers, Reanen Goodspeed, Evelin Chacha, and Casey Bugbee before the match at 12:30 PM EST.
