Delhi sweeps NAC weekend with 3-1 win over UMaine

Farmington, ME – Delhi Women's Soccer traveled to UMaine Farmington for their second North Atlantic Conference match of the weekend, defeating the Beavers 3-1. After losing their first match of the season the Broncos have gone 10 matches unbeaten.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Beavers opened the scoring in the 17th minute, taking an early lead. However, the Broncos responded swiftly with a goal from senior Kayla Beers (East Meredith, NY), who was assisted by senior Reanen Goodspeed (Morris, NY). This marked the second goal and assist of the season for both players. 

  • In the 33rd minute, Delhi took the lead when freshman Lizzetta Myers (Sterling, NY) scored her sixth goal of the season, with an assist from her freshman teammate, Jacey Nieckarz (Buskirk, NY). 

  • The second half remained a stalemate until the green and gold extended their lead in the 86th minute when Kaitlyn Hines (Staten Island, NY) scored her first career goal. This goal was assisted by sophomores Shaniyah Myers (North Babylon, NY) and Ayla Vorisek (Delhi, NY). 

  • Freshman goalkeeper, Vanessa Sanchez (Jurupa Valley, CA) put up a career-high eight saves on the day. 

  • With this victory, the Broncos have now gone unbeaten in their last 10 matches, winning eight and drawing two.
