Two Broncos land conference awards after record breaking weekend

After a historical week in Delhi Athletics, these two student-athletes have been recognized with North Atlantic Conference weekly honors. Men's soccer's Jaquan Williams led his team to a record-breaking weekend, scoring 14 goals in a conference win, while women's soccer Vanessa Sanchez recorded eight saves in a huge conference win to keep the Broncos unbeaten in their last 10 matches.

Men's Soccer Rooke of the Week

Jaquan Williams

Freshman | Forward | Hempstead, New York

Freshman Jaquan Williams led the men's soccer team to an incredible weekend where they set the program goal-scoring record in the NCAA era and defeated two conference opponents, outscoring them 15-0. He would erupt in the Bronco's record-breaking 14-0 win over VTSU-Lyndon on Saturday, scoring his first career goal and then adding on three more with an assist. Before scoring the match-winner in a big cross-division conference game on Sunday, handing UMaine their first NAC loss of the season.  Williams's play up front has been crucial to the Bronco's attack with 11 points through two matches this past week.

Women's Soccer Defender of the Week

Vanessa Sanchez

Freshman | Goalkeeper | Jurupa Valley, California

Freshman Vanessa Sanchez anchored the Delhi defense to two big wins in two appearances last week. In her first win against non-conference opponent MCLA, she made two great saves, including an incredible tip save that sent a long shot from MCLA over the bar, recording her fourth clean sheet of the season. On Sunday, she delivered one of the best performances of her career, making eight impressive saves in a 3-1 win over UMaine Farmington. Her contributions have been crucial to the Broncos remaining unbeaten in NAC play and in their last 10 matches (8-0-2).
