Bronco of the Week #2 Shaniyah Myers, John Walsh (9/12)

With the second edition of Broncos of the Week, we highlight two Delhi soccer players who have been leading their teams to record-breaking starts to their seasons. Sophomore Shaniyah Myers has been unstoppable on the women's soccer attack, leading the team to ten goals in their two matches last week. While sophomore defender John Walsh has been key in the men's soccer team holding their two opponents scoreless.

Shaniyah Myers

(North Babylon, NY | North Babylon HS) - Women's Soccer

Shaniyah Myers has led the high-powered Bronco attack, which scored 10 goals last week in two matches. Her pressure on the opponent's backline and goalkeepers has been significant, with three goals and a total of 17 shots in her matches. On two occasions, she skillfully beat the backline with the ball, creating one-on-one situations with the keeper and successfully slotting the ball into the net. As a result, the Broncos have tallied 10 goals in just two games.

Myers and the women's team are back in action with their first North Atlantic Conference match of the season, taking on SUNY Poly away on September 16th.

John Walsh

(East Islip, NY / East Islip HS) - Men's Soccer

Sophomore John Walsh has been a significant addition to the Delhi backline, which has refused to concede a goal this season. Last week, in two competitive non-conference match-ups, Walsh helped the defense secure two big clean sheets, marking the first time the men’s soccer team has held four clean sheets in the first four matches since Delhi joined the NCAA. He has played extremely well, impacting both sides of the ball for Delhi.

Walsh and men's team will travel to Hartwick College Wedesday, September 13th for their next match.
