Overtime Heroics Lift Lacrosse to 13–12 Victory Over Morrisville

Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi lacrosse team was back in action Wednesday night, looking to extend their win streak to three games, taking on the Mustangs of Morrisville.

A match between two teams that were very familiar with each other, having competed against one another the last couple of seasons as part of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Morrisville has since made the jump this season to competing in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

Delhi would strike first just over two minutes into the contest, as Shane Von Kampen would give the Broncos a quick 1-0 lead. It wouldn't take long for the Mustangs to respond, as Daniel Squires would find the back of the net to tie the contest at one apiece. The trend would continue for the entirety of the first quarter that saw a back-and-forth contest. Jagger Beachak and Joseph Lazazzaro would each add a goal of their own in the quarter. Delhi would find themselves in a 3-3 tie after one quarter of play. The Broncos would open the second with two goals from the same duo of Beachak and Lazazzaro to take a narrow 5-3 lead. Morrisville would continue to have an answer, going on a 5-1 scoring run to take an 8-6 lead at the break. Lazazzaro would add to his already strong night with 2 more goals in the third to keep the Broncos within striking distance entering the fourth. Chris Lazazzaro would come through in the clutch with two fourth goals to spark a run of three unanswered goals to regain the lead. In the closing seconds, ahead by a goal, Morrisville's Dean Mohammed would find the equalizer with seven seconds remaining to force overtime. It would only take one goal in the period with two minutes remaining from Jagger Beachak that proved to be the difference as the Broncos escaped with a thrilling 13-12 victory. The Broncos improve to 9-4 on the season and will return to action Wednesday for an away contest against Morrisville.
