Lacrosse Closes Regular Season with Big Win, Secures No. 2 Seed for Playoffs

Cobleskill, NY - The SUNY Delhi lacrosse team was back in action Saturday afternoon, as they wrapped up regular season play taking on the Fighting Tigers of Cobleskill.

It would be all Delhi from start to finish, as the Broncos wasted no time getting on the scoresheet. Chris Lazazzaro would open things up with two goals in the first minutes of action. Lazazzaro shortly after finding his third score of the quarter, brother Joseph Lazazzaro would follow suit, recording a hat trick of his own in just one quarter of play. It would be much of the same to start the second quarter, as Benjamin Moscatiello, Matt Castellani, Ryan Higgins, and Anthony Ferrato would all get on the scoresheet as the Broncos took a 20-2 lead into the break. Delhi would ride that momentum in the second half as they continued to assert their dominance over the Fighting Tigers. The Broncos would only allow 6 total goals on the day, while recording over 20 goals for the fourth time this season. Jagger Beachak and Justin Shapiro would both contribute four assists each, while Chris Lazazzaro finished the day with an impressive 7 goals. Delhi would finish the regular season on a four-game win streak, collecting the 27-6 victory.

The Broncos improve to 10-4 on the season, 4-1 in conference play, finishing as the number two seed in the North Atlantic Conference. Delhi will be back in action for the playoffs next Saturday as they take on the Terrier of Thomas College.
