Lacrosse Falls to Southern Virginia 10-7

Buena Vista, VA - The SUNY Delhi lacrosse team wrapped up their southern trip falling to Southern Virginia 10-7.

It would be a tight-knit contest for the first half that saw Southern Virginia with a narrow 3-2 lead after the first quarter with the lone Bronco goal coming by way of Chris Lazazzaro. Delhi would come out strong to start the second quarter, recording three unanswered goals by first-year Shane Vonkampen and junior Jagger Beachak, along with Lazazzaro adding an additional two in the quarter, giving him a hat trick and Delhi a one-point lead at the break.

The Knights would respond in the second half on the defensive side of the ball, allowing no goals in the third quarter and only one in the fourth. Defensive to offense, Southern Virginia would pair it with five second-half goals to take the 10-7 victory.

The Broncos fall to 2-1 on the season as they return home for a contest against Mt. St. Mary on March 8th.
