Lacrosse Secures First Home Win of the Season in Dominant Fashion

Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi lacrosse team returned to action Saturday afternoon, taking on former North Atlantic Conference rival SUNY Poly in a quest for their first home victory of the season. 

Delhi would waste no time getting on the scoresheet, finding the back of the net twice in the opening three minutes of play. Jagger Beachak was not only responsible for the first two Bronco goals, but would also find the back of the net four times in the first quarter. Joe Anfuso and Chris Lazazzaro each added a goal of their own in the opening quarter, catapulting the Broncos to an early 6-1 lead. While, the Wildcats would net the first goal of the second quarter, the Broncos would respond in an emphatic way. Delhi would score five unanswered goals behind two goals from Shane Vonkampen, another by Chris Lazazzaro, one from brother Joseph Lazazzaro, and Kyle Moore. The Broncos would enter the break in complete control with a commanding 11-4 lead. 

Delhi continued their dominance in the face-off game, headlined by Anthony Ferrato's 20 recorded ground balls, as the squad finished play winning 25 of 27 faceoffs. Jayden Messenia continued his strong rookie campaign in net, recording 8 saves. The Broncos would add five second-half goals as they coasted to an impressive 16-8 victory. Delhi's top performers, Jagger Beachak, totaled four goals to go along with four assists, and Chris Lazazzaro contributed three goals with five assists.

The Broncos improve to 3-2 on the season and will have a quick turnaround for a Monday evening game at home against Mt. St. Vincent.
