Lacrosse Drops Home Opener to New Paltz

Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi lacrosse team returned to action following a 3-game stint down south, taking on the Hawks of New Paltz in their home opener.

New Paltz would waste no time getting on the scoresheet and never looked back. The Hawks would score seven first-half goals while holding the Broncos scoreless at the break. Despite the large deficit, the score wouldn't tell the entire story. The Broncos finished the game winning 19 of 21 faceoffs, while totaling only 6 less first-half shots. The Hawks would quickly build the lead to double digits with a commanding third quarter. Delhi would finish strong in the fourth quarter, holding the Hawks scoreless while tallying 5 goals of their own. Sophomore Joe Anfuso and junior Joseph Lazazzaro would lead the charge for the Broncos, both recording a pair of goals. Unfortunately, Delhi's comeback attempt would start too late as New Paltz held on for the 11-6 victory.

The Broncos fall to 2-2 on the season and will be back in action at home on Saturday, March 15th against Poly.
