NORFOLK, Va. (September 18, 2019) – One day after his nod as NAC Player of the Week, sophomore midfielder Juan Velez (Peekskill / Peekskill, NY) was selected as the USCAA Division I Men's Soccer Player of the Week. Velez was honored for totaling three goals over Delhi's two wins last week, a 3-1 triumph over Bard and a 3-2 NAC win at Northern Vermont Johnson to jump to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in NAC play.

After Brody Rettle's equalizer at minute 24 tied things up following an early Bard Raptors goal, Velez quickly put Delhi in front three minutes later with a score in the 27th minute. The Peekskill, NY native then added a penalty-kick goal for good measure in the 82nd minute for the two-goal win. Velez then followed on Saturday with the opening score just 34 seconds in to Delhi's meeting at NVU Johnson as the Broncos won their first road match of 2019, as well as the conference victory.

Velez and the Broncos have one match this week as they host Maine Maritime in NAC competition this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
