DELHI, N.Y. (September 11, 2019) – Three unanswered goals after a 1-0 deficit was how the SUNY Delhi men's soccer team found victory Tuesday at home against Bard. The visiting Raptors drew first blood 20 minutes in, but Brody Rettle and Juan Velez each connected for scores over the next six minutes to put the Broncos out in front. Velez added a penalty-kick goal late in the second half to help push Delhi to its second straight win and improve to 2-3.

Bard's Jack Loud got the first score of the day, assisted by Dylan Jung, to get the visitors out in front, 1-0, at 20:21. The Broncos quickly answered three minutes later when Rettle connected to tie the game at 23:13. The match didn't stay tied for long, as Velez buried the next score at 26:56 to give the Broncos a 2-1 lead. Goalkeeper Corey O'Toole and the Delhi defense kept Bard off the board for the rest of the contest, as O'Toole finished with a pair of saves and the defense holding the Raptors to just six shots. A late Bard penalty awarded Velez a penalty kick, where the sophomore scored at 81:45 to all but clinch the match for the Broncos. In all, Delhi outshot Bard, 16-12, including 12-3 in shots on goal.
