Juan Velez Credited as NAC Player of the Week

WATERVILLE, Me. (September 16, 2019) – Sophomore midfielder Juan Velez (Peekskill / Peekskill, NY) has been honored as the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Week for his three-goal week over two games. His efforts helped guide the Broncos to a 3-1 home win Tuesday versus Bard and a 3-2 win in their NAC opener at Northern Vermont Johnson. Head coach Brian Mitko's team is riding a three-match win streak to stand at 3-3 overall and 1-0 in NAC play.

After Brody Rettle's equalizer at minute 24 tied things up following an early Bard Raptors goal, Velez quickly put Delhi in front three minutes later with a score in the 27th minute. The Peekskill, NY native then added a penalty-kick goal for good measure in the 82nd minute for the two-goal win. Velez then followed on Saturday with the opening score just 34 seconds in to Delhi's meeting at NVU Johnson as the Broncos won their first road match of 2019, as well as the conference victory.

Velez and the Broncos have one match this week as they host Maine Maritime in NAC competition this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
