Brian Mitko Named to United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program

DELHI, N.Y. (November 26, 2019) – SUNY Delhi men's soccer head coach Brian Mitko was recognized to United Soccer Coaches' 30 Under 30 Program, recognizing soccer coaches at all levels under 30 years old who have displayed exceptional work and leadership qualities.

Launched in 2013, the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity for a select few up-and-comers who have made coaching their career of choice. The United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program is designed to give participants exposure to mentorship, and the opportunity to take advantage of educational offerings, such as diplomas and the United Soccer Coaches Convention. Fifteen women and fifteen men were selected from nearly 300 applicants as part of the 2019-20 class.

Coach Mitko, 28, completed his third season leading the Broncos with a 9-8 record for his third straight winning season. In their first season in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), Delhi reached the conference quarterfinals, coming up just short in a tight 1-0 battle with SUNY Canton. Four Broncos earned All-NAC honors, with three of those going on to receive USCAA All-American accolades.

Mitko holds a 31-18-1 career record, with his first two Broncos teams reaching the conference finals in 2017 and 2018. He was named the 2018 American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Coach of the Year after a 13-2-1 season. The native of Clinton, CT has coached nine USCAA All-American selections in his time at SUNY Delhi.

Prior to Delhi, Mitko was a two-sport student-athlete at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, competing in soccer and lacrosse. He entered the college coaching ranks serving as an assistant coach at Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson, NY before moving on to NCAA Division I University of Vermont, helping the Catamounts to an America East Conference title in 2015.
