BOSTON, Mass. (February 8, 2019) – Freshman runner Katerina Salcedo set a new school record in the 1000 meters, as three more women's runners set new personal bests Friday at Boston University's Valentine Invitational. It marked a satisfying first day for Delhi, as the team will pick things up for the second day of competition Saturday.

Over the course of her young career, Salcedo has been working her way up the school record books in several mid-distance events. The Binghamton native etched her mark on the top spot when she clocked in at 3:04.12 in the 1K, surpassing the previous record of 3:08.9 set by Pauline Mitchell in 1997. Salcedo finished first in her section and 59th overall.

Sophomore Jaylynn Sheppard ran a new career best in the 200 meters with a time of 27.92. Ashley Magnifico and Arielle Moheimani earned personal indoor bests in the 400 meters, with just .03 seconds separating them. Magnifico timed in at 1:03.83, while Moheimani finished at 1:03.86.

It will be up to the men Saturday to live up to the women's strong Friday showing in Boston, with Kobie Lane, Nicholas Arnecke, Ted Oster and Abshir Yerow competing in the distance events.
