Five Broncos Take NAC's First Outdoor Weekly Accolades

WATERVILLE, Me. (April 4, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi men's and women's track and field teams have accomplished a lot just two competitions into their outdoor season. That work was rewarded this week in the NAC's first edition of the Athlete of the Week awards, with Delhi taking five of the conference's six honors following a strong performance at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational.

A total of 17 Broncos posted new career bests over 24 events during the Saturday meet. The men swept all three NAC awards, while the women claimed two out of the three. The recipients were as follows:

Diana Echols – Women's Field Athlete of the Week

  • Threw 11.45m in the shot put for a huge lifetime best, winning the event and placing second all-time in the school record books. Echols ranks behind former teammate Cheyenne Weaver, who threw for 11.75m last season.
  • Placed fourth in the discus at 28.45m.

Katerina Salcedo – Women's Rookie of the Week

  • Placed second in her first career 1500 meters for second place.
