ITHACA, NY (February 5, 2022) - The men's and women's track and field teams were in action again this weekend at the Bomber Invitational hosted by Ithaca College.

Highlights for the men included a pair of great performances from Joshua Jeffes who continues his fantastic season.  Jeffes won the individual title in the 400 meters with a time of 49.39, beating Amara Conte of Rowan who just set the NCAA Division III National Record in the 500 meters last weekend.  Jeffes then went on to win his heat easily in the 200 meters with a huge personal best time of 22.20.  This performance broke the SUNY Delhi school record of 22.26 seconds that was set by Andre Britton in 2009 and tied by Doug Williams in 2017.  It also ranks 12th nationally for NCAA III at the time of the performance.  Jeffes now has the school records in the 200, 300 and 400 meters indoors.

Teammate Naquille Harris made a successful return to the track after a short layoff due to a nagging injury.  Harris ran 7.02 in the 60 meter dash seminfinals to easily advance to the final.  There he ran 6.95 to place second overall.  The team also had a good individual performance from Chris Filatov in the pole vault.  Filatov was back in action for the first time this semester and cleared 4.25 meters to place fifth overall.  The final highlight for the men came from the 4x200 meter relay team of Brennan Frascello, Mickenson Simon, Morgan Condon and Owen Sleasman.  The quartet ran 1:34.37 to place sixth overall.

The women's team was again led by a pair of sprinters.  Jaylynn Sheppard continues to make great use of her extra year of competition dropping below eight seconds for the first time every in the 60 meter dash.  She ran 7.97 seconds in the semi-finals to improve her mark that already ranks second in school history.  She then backed it up with a 7.98 second run in the final to place second overall in the meet.  Her teammate Kadie-Ann Whyte continues to make a strong return from a long string of seasons lost to Covid and injuries before that.  She dropped another full tenth of a second in the 60 meter semifinals with her 8.09 second performance, that ties her for number five in program history to place sixth overall.  Sheppard and Whyte then teamed up with Sabrina Richards and Kimberly Dean to take fifth place overall in the women's 4x200 meter relay with a team total of 1:53.05.

Next up for the teams will be their first steps on a banked track for the season as they will head to Ocean Breeze Track and Field Center in Staten Island, NY on Friday.
