Track and Field Has Strong Showing at Hamilton

RESULTS

CLINTON, NY (January 21, 2022) - The SUNY Delhi Track and Field team was back in competition again at the Hamilton College Invitational.

The women were led by the sprinting duo of Senior Jaylynn Sheppard and sophomore Kadie-Ann Whyte.  Sheppard placed second overall in the 60 meter dash in 8.11 seconds while Whyte placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 27.51 seconds to post a new collegiate best for her.  Sheppard also added a fourth place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 27.79. In the longer races, freshman Kristina Messler saw her first action of 2022 placing second in the 3,000 meters with a time or 12:20.10. 

Also placing high for the women was sophomore Kitty Messina placing third in the weight throw (12.84m) and in the shot put (10.99m), junior Mary Lyons placing fourth in the 800 meters (2:48.20), sophomore Marissa Lombardi in the 3,000 meters (13:07.23) and senior Witchney Clersainville placing fourth in the triple jump (9.13m).

The men's team was led by a pair of first time collegiate hurdlers.  Sophomore Morgan Condon took his first attempt running the 60 meter hurdles and came away with a first place finish in 9.27 seconds leading a close group of three across the line.  His freshman teammate Mickenson Simon was third in that trio at 9.30 seconds in his first race at the college height.

Condon and Simon also came back in the 200 meter dash with sophomore teammate Josh Jeffes.  Jeffes won the event with a time of 22.67 seconds with Simon taking second (23.65) and Condon taking fourth (23.87)  Jeffes also added a third place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.28 seconds.

Condon, Simon and Jeffes also teamed up with sophomore Harry Birchmore to win the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:35.91.

Also placing well for the men were junior Seth Bywater who placed second in the 3,000 meters (9:03.97), sophomore Harry Birchmore who placed third in the 400 (56.10), sophomore Brandon Mckenzie taking fourth in the 60 meters (7.29), John Amenta who placed third in the 3,000 meters (9:04.57) and fourth in the mile (4:30.68),

The team will next travel to the Utica College Blue and Orange Invitational.
