DELHI, N.Y. (December 4, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi track & field team used Cornell University's backdrop to open the indoor season with a pair of new records at the Greg Page Relays. Sophomore Joshua Jeffes is the new school record holder in the men's 300 meters with a time of 35.56 for sixth overall, beating the previous record set in 2015 by Walter Briggs by .01 seconds. Freshman Tatianna Kistner set the new women's record in her first career 60 meters with a time of 8.00, besting the previous SUNY Delhi mark from Tieshia Coleman of 8.04 from 2002. Saturday marked SUNY Delhi's first indoor meet since March of 2020.

Sprinter Naquille Harris clocked in the second-fastest time in school history in the 60-meter finals at 6.92 (qualified with 6.99 preliminary time) for second place in his first indoor collegiate meet, coming within .04 seconds of Marvin Elmore's SUNY Delhi standard set in 2002. He also ran 38.22 in the 300 meters. Jeffes followed up his record performance by running the 4x400 with Brennan Frascello, Mickenson Simon, and Morgan Condon, taking fifth at 3:30.37. Lorenzo Castro and Harry Birchmore each had top-ten finishes in the 500 meters, with Castro taking seventh at 1:11.82 and Birchmore ninth at 1:14.56.

Coach Brown's comments: "We had a pretty good opening meet. It was good to shake the cobwebs off and compete indoors for the first time in a while. Naquille and Josh had great opening races, looking forward to how their seasons progress. Lot of other first time performances for people that showed a lot of promise. Overall a great opener as we roll into our second meet next week."

Kistner also ran the 300 meters, finishing 28th with a time of 44.75. Thrower Kitty Messina logged a 13th-place finish in the shot put when her first throw hit 10.16m. Sophie Stewart finished 12th in the 500 meters with a time of 1:31.23, while fellow runner Kristina Messler raced to 16th place in the 3,000 meters at 11:55.68 in her college debut.

Coach Brown's comments: "It was a good opening meet for the women. Just like the men's team, it was great to shake some cobwebs off and compete indoors again. Tati started off her college career with a school record in the 60, Kitty Messina had a great opening throw in shot put, and some of the ladies in our distance group had a good showings as they begin racing indoors. I'm looking forward to having more of our women's team racing next week at Utica."

As aforementioned by Head Coach Zach Brown, the Broncos' next meet sends them to Utica College Holiday Classic next Saturday, Dec. 11.
