Salley Caps Career Earning USCAA All-American Second Team

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (March 16, 2020) – Senior guard Samiaya Salley (Highland Falls, NY / James I. O'Neill) earned the ultimate honor of her third USCAA All-American selection to finish her extraordinary SUNY Delhi women's basketball career, being named to the Division I Second Team. She completed her senior season leading the team in scoring with 13.9 ppg. including five 20-point games. Salley was a 2016-17 USCAA Honorable Mention as a freshman and a 2017-18 USCAA First Team recipient as a sophomore.

Under first-year head coach Lauren McRoberts, the Broncos overcame a rough 1-11 start to the 2019-20 season by going 6-6 in the second half of the year for a 7-17 record. One of Salley's finest performances resulted in one of Delhi's biggest wins of the year at ACAA-foe Valley Forge on Feb. 15. Trailing, 70-66, with under ten seconds remaining, Salley hit a turnaround three to cut things to one with 6.4 seconds left. After putting the Patriots on the line and two UVF free throws making it a three-point game, Salley connected on another turnaround three to send the game to overtime tied at 72-72. She added four points in overtime on her way to a season-best 25 points as the Broncos secured an 81-76 overtime win. Salley was named both USCAA and ACAA Player of the Week for her performance.

Salley finished her outstanding Broncos with 1,898 points and 199 career 3-pointers. She was the second player in school history to reach 1,000 points as a sophomore and is SUNY Delhi's all-time career leading scorer. Perhaps her finest year with Broncos came during the 2017-18 season, when she averaged 23.8 ppg. and 713 total points, earning the ACAA's Player of the Year and First Team honors, while receiving SUNY Delhi's Female Student Athlete of the Year. That season also saw Salley set a single-game career best with 42 points and seven 3-pointers versus Central Penn on Feb. 17, 2018.
