BANGOR, Me. (January 15, 2020) – Junior Kiera Holland (Elmont, NY / Elmont Memorial) reached the 1,000 career points plateau late in the SUNY Delhi women's basketball team's road meeting with Husson Wednesday afternoon. Needing 14 points entering the contest, Holland secured the milestone with 16 points on the day, making her first four shots on her way to 11 first-half points, then connecting for the monumental basket with less than two minutes remaining. Along with teammate Samiaya Salley's team-high 18 points, the two accounted for 34 of the Broncos' 43 points in a 77-43 defeat to the Eagles.

Though Husson raced out to a 22-9 lead after one quarter, Holland's sharp shooting in the second quarter helped Delhi cut the deficit to as little as six at 23-17 to begin the second period. But the Eagles swooped in to score 22 of the next 27 points for a 45-22 advantage at the half. Husson bumped its lead to as much as 41 points over the course of the second half.

Holland became the third Bronco in SUNY Delhi Women's Basketball history to reach 1,000 points, standing alongside teammate Salley (2016-Pres.) and Jennifer LePinnet-Clark (2002-04). Salley, who surpassed the 1,000-point milestone during her sophomore season, is Delhi's all-time leading scorer with 1,804 points.

Salley and Holland also finished with four rebounds apiece, with Holland recording four assists. Diana Echols secured seven rebounds to go with four points, while Katelyn Lewis finished with three points and four boards and Princess Richardson garnering two points.

The Broncos shot 32.7 percent (16-for-49) to the Eagles' 42.1 percent (32-for-76), and made 4-of-16 threes to Husson's 5-of-19. Delhi made 7-of-9 free throws to its hosts' 8-of-14 from the line. Husson led, 48-25, on rebounds, and took 21 Broncos turnovers for a 27-9 lead in points off turnovers. The Eagles also had a 28-12 lead in points in the paint.
