Salley Completes Extraordinary Career with ACAA Player of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (February 18, 2020) – Senior guard Samiaya Salley (Highland Falls, NY / James I. O'Neill) wrapped up her extraordinary career at SUNY Delhi by being named the ACAA Player of the Week. She combined for 12 3-pointers over two games, tallying six triples apiece. Her pair of late threes in the last ten seconds of regulation lifted the women to an improbable overtime win at Valley Forge on Saturday, then drilled six 3-pointers for 25 points in her final career game as the Broncos defeated Norwich Monday night.

Salley finished Saturday's ACAA contest with the Patriots with 25 points, going 6-for-8 from long range, while tallying eight rebounds and seven assists. With the Broncos trailing UVF, 70-66, with less than ten seconds left, the Highland Falls, NY native drained a quick three to bring the deficit down to one. After putting the Patriots on the line for two free throws, Delhi again gave the ball to Salley, who hit the game-tying three with four seconds left to send things to overtime tied at 72-72. She scored four of the team's nine overtime points on their way to victory.

The senior was then honored alongside her peers in Monday's season finale versus Norwich, where she dazzled her home crowd one last time by making 6-of-9 threes for 20 points with six rebounds and six assists. When the visiting Cadets opened the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run to cut the Broncos' lead to ten, Salley reeled off four consecutive 3-pointers to double the Broncos' margin and clinch the win.

Salley finished her extraordinary career as a Bronco with 1,898 points and 199 career 3-pointers. She was the second player in school history to reach 1,000 points as a sophomore, and is SUNY Delhi's all-time career leading scorer. She also totaled 605 rebounds, 404 assists, and 219 steals.
