McDonald Posts Game Highs in Double-Double Effort as Women Win at Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. (January 21, 2020) – Four Broncos finished in double figures Tuesday evening as the SUNY Delhi women's basketball team secured a 62-48 road win at Elmira. Camryn McDonald led the way with a double-double, recording a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds, to help Delhi improve to 4-15 on the season and pick up its third win of January.

Elmira scored the first five points of the game and led for much of the first quarter, until the Broncos started to gain traction towards the end of the period to tie things up at 12-12 after one. Delhi continued its push into the second quarter to take a 27-23 lead at halftime, then put on a dominating second half that saw the team put up 24 points in the third quarter and 20 in the fourth.

Katelyn Lewis was second on the scoring chart with 15 points to go with eight rebounds. Sam Acuna earned 13 points, drilling two 3-pointers and making a perfect 5-for-5 on free throws, while Samiaya Salley scored 12 points. Carissa Crandall added seven points, as Diana Echols netted six points and grabbed five boards. Brenna Gioffe totaled five rebounds.

The Broncos shot 40.0 percent for the contest (24-for-60), making 4-of-17 threes and 19-of-30 free throws, as Elmira finished at 30.8 percent (20-for-65), 4-of-22, and 11-of-15, respectively. Delhi pressured the Soaring Eagles into 20 turnovers that resulted in 14 points off turnovers. The green and gold also controlled the scoring down low, with a 34-16 advantage in points in the paint.

Head coach Lauren McRoberts' team concludes a winter break where they played nine games dating back to Dec. 29. The ladies have six more regular-season games, including three home contests. They next host a pair of ACAA games, first against Valley Forge Sunday, at 1:00 p.m., then Pine Manor Sunday, Feb. 2 at 1:00 p.m. Their final home game will be against Norwich Thursday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
