Echols, Holland Parlay Big Seasons to All-ACAA Second Team

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (February 28, 2019) – The American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) released its Women's Basketball All-Conference Team. Junior forward Diana Echols (Ellenville, NY / Ellenville) and sophomore guard Kiera Holland (Elmont, NY / Elmont Memorial) were both named to the Second Team. It is the second straight year for Holland earning conference second-team accolades, and the first-ever ACAA nod for Echols.

The women's ballers completed their first season under head coach Courtney Hoyt with an 11-13 record and several notable moments. They logged three ACAA wins against Pine Manor, Pratt and Valley Forge, and defeated stories foes Morrisville State and SUNY Canton. Delhi carried as much as a four-game win streak during the year, as well as a four-game home win streak. The Broncos were also 3-3 in games decided by two possessions or less.

Echols ranked second in the ACAA in rebounds with 12.7 per game, and third on the team in scoring with 8.1 ppg. She logged seven double-doubles on the season, posting double figures in rebounds in all but three of her 23 games played. Her second double-double of the year marked a career performance for the Ellenville, NY native, as Echols tallied 26 points and 24 rebounds in the Broncos' 93-64 win over Penn State Greater Allegheny on Nov. 17.

Holland finished as Delhi's leading scorer and ranking fourth in the ACAA at 16.8 ppg., and fourth on the boards at 5.7 rpg. She had 11 20-point games, including a tandem of season-high scoring efforts with 26 points against Penn State Hazleton on Nov. 17 and Purchase on Feb. 4. The latter saw her post her second and final double-double of the season, where Holland grabbed ten rebounds.
