Broncos Dominate on Boards, Three Drop 20-Point Games in Sound 93-64 Decision at PSU Hazleton

HAZLETON, Pa. (November 17, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team made it two wins in a row on Saturday with a road victory at Penn State Hazleton. After coming out on top in a 71-69 nailbiter versus Morrisville State on Monday, the Broncos made sure to put some distance with a 93-64 victory over the Lions, helped by an astounding 74-38 advantage in rebounds. Head coach Courtney Hoyt's team improved to 2-1 on the season.

Kiera Holland and Diana Echols each led all scorers with 26 points, with Echols recording a double-double with a career-best 24 rebounds. Samiaya Salley also had a double-double, dropping five 3-pointers on her way to 21 points and 11 boards. Sam Acuna netted 12 points with six rebounds. Katelyn Lewis grabbed 11 rebounds, while leading the team with five assists.

Hazleton led to begin the game, holding 2-0 and 4-2 leads. Delhi quickly took over, taking a 27-15 lead to end the first quarter, while strengthening their margins at halftime to 51-26. The Broncos led by as much as 29 points, which served as the deciding margin. The ladies shot 44.0 percent (40-for-91) to the Lions' 31.3 (25-for-80), and made 8-of-25 threes. Delhi also held a 19-9 lead in second-chance shots.

Coach Hoyt's squad returns home on Sunday to take on Central Penn at 12:00 p.m.
