NAC Honors Broncos as Athlete of the Week

Delhi, NY - New month, new opportunities for the Broncos as we head deeper into the Spring season for Delhi Athletics. The North Atlantic Conference has recognized four Broncos this week, highlighting their performances from their last meet at Hamilton College . They have been awarded NAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week for both the Men's and Women's sides for their amazing efforts in each of their individual events, while two of the athletes broke school records. 

Zoe Rodi - Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Sophmore | Sprinter | Pine Bush, NY
Our 2nd year Sprinter ran a lifetime best of 26.17 to place second in the 200-meters at the Hamilton College Continental Invitational. She also ran a leg on the winning mixed 4x400 meter relay with a split of 59.00 seconds. Rodi is currently ranked 6th in the Niagara Region in the 200-meter. Her time of 26.17 seconds was just 0.01 second behind the event winner in a great race.

 

Kitty Messina - Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Senior | Thrower | Canandaigua, New York
Messina continues to steadily improve, as she broke another SUNY Delhi program record, this time in the hammer throw with a new lifetime best of 42.52 meters over the weekend at the Hamilton College Continental Invitational. Messina currently holds the top spot in the NAC in hammer and is ranked 11th in the Niagara Region. The record was previously set by Diana Echols in 2019 with 41.94 meters. 

 

Josh Jeffes - Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Senior | Sprinter | Scotia, New York
Our All-American continues his dominance running 21.64 seconds in the 200-meters to win the Continental Invitational at Hamilton College.  He also anchored the winning mixed 4x400 meter relay team with a split of 47.37 seconds. Jeffes is currently ranked first in the 200m in the NAC and the Niagara Region. This qualifies him for the AARTFC Championships later in the season. 

 

Chris Filatov - Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Senior | Pole Vault | Pearl River, New York
Senior Chris Filatov broke the SUNY Delhi school record with an impressive clearance of 4.60 meters (15' 1").  The record had been set by past NAC pole vault champion Matt Scavetta in 2018. Filatov is currently ranked 1st in the NAC in pole vault and third in the Niagara Region.  Filatov now holds both the indoor and outdoor records in the pole vault and his mark qualifies him for the AARTFC Championships.  Filatov also won the event with the performance.

Track and Field will be back in action this weekend at the Utica University Invitational.
