Broncos Post Strong Showings at AARTFC Championships

Rochester, NY - The Delhi Track and Field teams started their postseason today while competing at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships held at Nazareth College in Rochester.  The results were eye popping for the Broncos as record fell and history was made.

Senior Joshua Jeffes continued his fantastic season by becoming the first Delhi Bronco to ever win an event at the AARTFC Indoor Championships.  Jeffes took the individual title in the 400 meters running 48.55 seconds to top the field represnting 55 schools.  Jeffes, who ranks atop the national rankings in the event will now prepare for the NCAA Indoor Championships to be held next week in Virginia Beach.

Also looking to punch a ticket to the NCAA Championships is freshman Dayzin Legare.  Legare ran a new lifetime best in the 60 meter dash during the preliminaries yesterday at 6.95 and then ran 6.94 today in the final to place third overall.  He then came back later in the day to run 22.01 seconds in the 200 meters to take second place.  Legare will now wait for all the results from around the country to come in and see if he has a trip to Virginia in his future.  He currently ranks 20th in the nation and the top 20 declared athletes will get in.

On the women's side, Zoe Rodi had the highlight of the day for the Broncos.  Rodi dropped her new lifetime best in the 400 meters by a large margin and broke a 20 year old school record.  Her time of 59.37 seconds was her first time under 60 seconds in the event and broke the mark of 59.74 run by Cassi Williams back in 2004.

This meet will mark the end of the indoor season for most of the Broncos.  Jeffes will prepare for the NCAA Championships and looks like he will have some company on the trip from freshman Dayzin Legare.  The NCAA meet is to be held in Virginia Beach this coming Friday and Saturday.
