Track and Field Has a Strong Day at Cornell University With Many Season Bests

Ithaca, NY - A small contingent of Delhi track and field athletes made the trip to Cornell University for the Marc Denault Invitational today.  The crew that traveled was rewarded with multiple lifetime best performances.

Leading the way was John Amenta who placed fourth in the men's mile running 4:21.42 for a new lifetime best by over a second and a half.  Amenta held on to the back end of a fast race and stayed as smooth as possible before unleashing a fantastic final 400 meters of 62.8 seconds to move up six places.  Also placing fourth in the meet was long jumper Cristhian Cuevas who launched a lifetime best of 6.73 meters (22' 1") on his final jump of the competition to catapault himself from seventh to fourth.  Teammate Luke Foster also placed in the long jump at seventh with a mark of 6.52 meters 21' 4.75").

For the women, Kimberly Dean ran a huge lifetime best in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.19 seconds to drop more than a tenth of a second off of her previous best.  Evelyn Eastman also had a strong day running a new lifetime best in the mile.  Her time of 5:49.01 was 17 seconds better than she had run this season.

The team will now get ready for their final meet of the regular season at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island next Friday.
