Newburgh, NY - The SUNY Delhi women's tennis team was back in action Thursday night to take on Mount St. Mary, coming up short, falling 5-2.
Mount St. Mary narrowly took the first match of doubles, collecting the 6-4 victory, as Delhi returned the favor in match two with a 6-4 win of their own from the double partners of sophomore Hallee Bodo and senior Jennifer Roche Jimenez. The Knights went on to commandingly win the third set to earn the point, winning the best of three sets.
The match moved to the singles portion, in which the Broncos posted their best showing of the season. Hallee Bodo (6-1 & 6-2) earned her first singles victory of the season along with sophomore Hanah Shafer's first of the season (3-6, 6-4, & 7-6). Delhi jumped out to an early 2-0 lead for singles before the Knights would take the next 4 singles matches, catapulting them to a 5-2 victory.
Delhi moves to 0-3 on the season and will next play Vermont St. Lyndon away on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 2:30 p.m. in their first conference matchup.
