Six Broncos Land Women's Soccer All-NAC; DuBois, Innes Accorded to First Team

WATERVILLE, Me. (November 4, 2021) – Six SUNY Delhi women's soccer student-athletes reached the pinnacle of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) distinction today with the rollout of the All-NAC Team. Seniors Kelsey Innes (North Babylon, NY / North Babylon) and Alexa DuBois (Hobart, NY / South Kortright Central) were accorded to the First Team. Senior goalkeeper Rachael Scoones (Waterville, NY / Waterville) and junior defender Reanen Goodspeed (Morris, NY / Morris) took Second Team accolades, while senior defender Olivia Curry (Farmingdale, NY / Farmingdale) and sophomore Alanna Ruchar (Delhi, NY / Delaware Academy) received Honorable Mention.

SUNY Delhi completed its first year under Head Coach Zach Ward with an 11-6 record for its second 11-win season since 2018 and making its second consecutive NAC Tournament appearance since joining the league in 2019. Delhi went 7-1 during the regular season in NAC play, including a perfect 4-0 in the NAC West to earn the first seed for the division tournament. The Broncos played host to four-seed SUNY Poly Saturday, using three unanswered goals for a 3-1 victory before their season ended in a 2-1 meeting with Cazenovia Sunday in the NAC Semifinals. The team finished one win shy of the program record for wins in a season set in 2006.

In addition, senior Tiesha Mayfield (Bronx, NY / Astor Collegiate Academy) was selected to the NAC Sportsmanship Team, reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees have positively affected the sport culture and match environment by clearly demonstrating sportsmanship and integrity beyond playing rules and etiquette.

Team-leading scorer DuBois completed her Broncos career with 65 points on 29 goals and seven assists, including this year's 28 points on 13 goals and two assists that ranks third in the conference in points and goals. She had four multi-goal matches, including three hat tricks, with her two-goal game versus Maine Farmington deciding the outcome in the 2-1 victory on Sept. 26. She headed in the game-tying goal off a corner kick just before halftime in Delhi's playoff win over SUNY Poly Saturday that triggered a two-goal second half for the win.

Innes completed her Delhi run with 88 points on 34 goals and 20 assists through three seasons, including 21 points on seven goals and seven assists this fall for second on the team. Innes put the Broncos ahead in Saturday's playoff matchup against SUNY Poly on a breakaway opportunity with 10:30 remaining, then was credited with the assist on the following score from Dayanara Garcia to clinch the game. She had one hat trick in the home opener against SUNY Old Westbury, and totaled eight points on two goals and four assists in

The defensive senior tandem of Scoones and Curry delivered great dividends this fall where the Broncos gave up just 22 goals and posted six shutouts. Curry took opposing scoring chances head on at the center back position, leaving little wiggle room for shots on goal, with opponents totaling just 129 of those through 17 matches. She even contributed to the scoring with six points on one goal and four assists. Used effectively on free kicks and corner kicks, it was Curry's corner that assisted DuBois' equalizer in Saturday's playoff match with SUNY Poly. Then in what turned out to be her final career match, Curry scored the opening goal of the league semifinals matchup with Cazenovia, the third of her career, when her long-range free kick took a high bounce in the box over the goalkeeper ten minutes into the match.

Scoones' season produced a 10-6 record, 1.28 goals allowed average and a .839 save percentage with 99 total saves, while logging four complete-game shutouts. She earned one NAC Defender of the Week. Her final career numbers include a 22-16-1 lifetime mark in 43 matches with 38 starts, charting a 1.53 goals allowed average and .817 save percentage, while posting nine complete-game shutouts. In addition, Scoones is a two-sport student-athlete in soccer and softball, and currently serves as the NAC representative on the NCAA Division III National SAAC.

Goodspeed, utilized as a defender and midfielder, made good wherever she was on the field. She was a frequent catalyst for the program on throw-ins and corner kicks, logging two assists on the year, including one off a corner kick in a 5-1 win over Northern Vermont Johnson. In Saturday's opening-round NAC Tournament contest with SUNY Poly, Goodspeed did good on the defensive side when the slick, muddy field conditions required more communication and help on the back line to pin down SUNY Poly to just one goal on the afternoon.

Ruchar finished her first full competitive season with SUNY Delhi logging three points on one goal and one assist, both coming in the team's 5-1 NAC victory on Northern Vermont Johnson. While Ruchar seldom found herself in the first XI at the beginning of the year, she constantly put in the work during training and the game time she was seeing early. Tremendous work-rate in the midfield. Bright trajectory for the rest of her time with Delhi. Did a lot of the dirty work in the center of the park.
