MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (September 1, 2021) – One early goal and two late goals from host Morrisville State marked SUNY Delhi women's soccer's season opener Wednesday with a 3-0 defeat. While it was a less-than-desirable outcome, the afternoon matchup was a historic one for the Broncos as it marked the program's first official contest as full-time NCAA Division III members, as well as the head-coaching debut of Zach Ward.

The Mustangs got on the board at 4:16 off a score from Tiffany Dicenzo off a feed from Rachael Davis. The Broncos settled in to keep the deficit at one going into halftime. Keeper Rachael Scoones totaled six saves on the day. Delhi took seven of its eight shots in the second half, but were unable to find the mark. Morrisville's Dicenzo set some distance with a score from Angelina Rinaldi at the 71:05 mark, followed by a late penalty kic goal from Ashley Tette at 88:55 to seal the match.

"Couple bounces didn't go our way but the players kept at it," said Coach Ward. "It was our first 90 minutes of the year. The subs that came on were able to impact the pace of the game which you like to see as a coach. This is our starting point and we'll be back to work in training tomorrow."

The Broncos have their next challenge this Saturday when they open their home season against SUNY Old Westbury for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
