WATERVILLE, Me. (October 25, 2021) - Senior goalkeeper Rachael Scoones (Waterville, NY / Waterville Central) garnered her second North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Defender of the Week of the season with a brilliant two-match performance in front of the net that steered the Broncos to a 2-0 non-conference win at Bard Tuesday and a 2-1 NAC victory over SUNY Canton Saturday. Scoones and the Broncos, now 10-5 and 7-1 in league play, clinched the top seed and hosting rights for this weekend's NAC West Tournament, where they'll open up the festivities against fourth-seed SUNY Poly Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

The women put on a gritty show in their Tuesday road match at Bard, where Scoones defended her team's two first-half goals with nine saves on the way to her first complete game shutout of the season. The same was said in Saturday's regular season finale with Canton. When her defense wasn't stuffing the Roos on their few chances in the box, Scoones backed them up with three saves, including a leaping fingertip save in the 80th minute. Only a late penalty kick Canton goal with 1:06 remaining prevented Scoones from her second consecutive shutout.
