DELHI, N.Y. (September 21, 2021) - It's a soccer sweep of the Limitless Photos Broncos of the Week with the selections of Alanna Ruchar and John Walsh. The women and men posted their first conference wins Saturday against Northern Vermont Johnson to start their NAC season.
Alanna Ruchar (Delhi, NY / Delaware Academy ) played a role in two of the Broncos' four swift second-half scores to break away with a 5-1 win over the Badgers. After two Alexa DuBois goals late in the first half and in the 53rd minute, DuBois again fired towards the net that hit the crossbar. Waiting there was Ruchar who struck a rebound shot that hit the right post, which she gathered again to find the goal for Delh's third score of the afternoon. Ruchar and DuBois teamed up again with their last goal in the 65th minute, with Ruchar feeding DuBois an 18-yarder from the top left that sailed to the top left of the goal past the goalkeeper's hands.
John Walsh (East Islip, NY / East Islip) helped get the Broncos ahead by two goals on their way to their first win of the season, 3-0, over the Badgers. His free kick just past midfield reached the box, leading to a few Broncos touches that resulted in a Michael Williams Jr. goal from Anthony Cuellar in the 29th minute. The Broncos were handed a penalty kick opportunity moments later, which Walsh carried out for his first goal of the season and Delhi's second score in minute 38.
