Bowker, Hall, McIntyre Receive USCAA National Academic Praise

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (November 27, 2017) – For their academic achievements, three SUNY Delhi women's harriers were named to the USCAA All-Academic Team. Junior Tristen Bowker (Walton, NY / Delaware Academy), sophomore Nikita Hall (Brooklyn, NY / Bronx Academy of Health Careers) and junior Elise McIntyre (Red Creek, NY / Red Creek) were honored as the Broncos' three representatives for the national academic honor.

Bowker is a Restaurant and Food Service Management major with a 3.92 GPA. The Delaware Academy graduate was one of Delhi's strong anchors in 2017, coming in as the Broncos' fifth or sixth-highest finisher most of the year. She was Delhi's fourth finisher at the USCAA National Championships, earning 56th place with a time of 26:00.17 to help the team to a sixth-place finish. At the ACAA Championships, Bowker earned second team all-conference honors, placing 13th as Delhi's fifth finisher at 29:41.6 as the Broncos took second place. Her best finish this season came at the Bronco Classic, finishing eighth in the 5K race with a pace of 25:20.61.

Hall is a Nursing major, holding a 3.55 GPA. She competed in one race this year at the Delhi-hosted Bronco Classic, placing 20th with a time of 29:27.95. The Brooklyn, NY native also runs for head coach Robb Munro on the track and field team, where she competes in sprints.

This is McIntyre's second recent USCAA national honor, having been named the league's Co-Student Athlete of the Year in women's cross country. An Architecture major with a 3.85 GPA, McIntyre has been Delhi's second-top finisher in all but two races this season. She stayed true to her form at the USCAA National Championships, placing 42nd with a mark of 27:49.76, behind the team's leading runner Arielle Moheimani, who took 23rd. At the ACAA Championships, which Delhi hosted, McIntyre helped the Broncos to a second-place finish, placing sixth with a mark of 27:39.9. The junior from Red Creek, NY can also be seen giving back to the community, from running a student fair for elementary students, as well as teaching dance classes.
