DELHI, N.Y. (October 28, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's cross country team made unprecedented strides on Saturday when they hosted and finished second at the ACAA Cross Country Championships at the College Golf Course. The Broncos finished with 38 points, just 11 points behind winner Alfred State, with Arielle Moheimani leading Delhi with a fourth-place finish at 26:52.7 and Elise McIntyre finishing sixth at 27:39.9. Both finishes earned the girls a spot on the ACAA first team, with four more Broncos joining them on the second team. A total of 43 runners and six teams competed in the 6K race.

Saturday marked the program's first-ever appearance in a NCAA conference championship after SUNY Delhi was granted an exploratory membership with NCAA Division III earlier this year. They were officially introduced as members of the newly-formed ACAA conference on September 1, 2017.

"We had some individuals run really well, while others are struggling to get 100% healthy," said head coach Robb Munro. "But everyone seems to be on an upward trend and we have two weeks to get everyone right before Nationals. The Alfred State women came to race and did a fantastic job! Today was not only a great day, but an important day for the future of our program as we continue to move towards Division III."

Rainey Cerqua, Jewel Pignetti and Tristen Bowker all earned second-team accolades after finishing 11th, 12th, and 13th respectively. Cerqua finished with a mark of 29:20.9, while Pignetti clocked in at 29:38.9 and Bowker 29:41.6. Beverly Gruet took 20th with a time of 31:09.5, while Julia Witt earned 21st at 31:17.9 and Brittany Adams 22nd at 31:40.5.
