Delhi Men's Swim team grabs Win at Home Meet against Wells College

Delhi, NY - After hosting their first meet since 2019 earlier in the week, the SUNY Delhi Swim team took on Wells College Saturday morning. The men had a great overall day beating the Express 113-42, while the women had a tight matchup being defeated 81-72 in the end.

The Men's team had numerous incredible efforts which lifted them over Wells. Freshman Steven Castronovo started the Broncos off with a great time in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing it in 2:21.36. Jeremiah Brathwaite was next, winning the 50 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 35.58, narrowly beating out his brother, Jonathon Brathwaite who came in second at 36.26. Jonathan then turned around and won the 50 Yard Freestyle by just .03 seconds.

The men had numerous great individual efforts throughout their big win. Travis Belanger had an amazing time in the 100 Yard Freestyle, winning the race by an impressive five seconds. Castronovo would win the 100 Yard Breastroke by more than 15 seconds as he blew his competition out of the water.

The Delhi women's swim team was just one event away from grabbing the win but were ultimately defeated by just nine points. Skyler Nowalk got the team started in the 200 Yard Freestyle, grabbing first place with a time of 2:28.58, over 10 seconds ahead of second place. She would then win the 50 Yard Freestyle for her second win of the day. Sophomore Jessica Roon then won the 50 Yard Backstroke in a tight race, finishing just a second ahead of second place. Kitty Messina was able to grab two first-place finishes in the 50 Yard Butterfly and the 100 Yard Freestyle.
