Caceres Breaks School Record, Wins Her Three NAC Titles

BANGOR, ME (February 5-6, 2022) - The SUNY Delhi Swim and Dive team wrapped up their season with the North Atlantic Conference Championship Meet hosted by Husson University in Bangor, Maine.

Senior Alexandria Caceres led the way with a banner performance.  Her biggest highlight came on day two, when she broke the SUNY Delhi school record in the 100 yard freestyle on her way to the individual NAC Championship in the event.  Her mark of 56.51 breaks the record established by Kaitlyn Quezada in 2020 when she swam to a 57.35.  Caceres then went on to win the 50 yard freestyle in 26.11 seconds as well as the 50 yard butterfly in 28.54 seconds.

Also placing in the top six for the women were Kitty Messina and Jessica Roon.  Messina placed third in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:28.04) and fourth in the 50 yard breaststroke (38.67).  Roon placed fifth in the 50 yard freestyle (29.74) and sixth in the 50 yard backstroke (34.95).

On the men's side of things, Travis Belanger led the way with his second place finish in the 50 yar breaststroke and fifth place finish in the 100 year breaststroke.  There were three other Broncos that placed in the top six finishers in their events with Jeremiah Brathwaite placing sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:18.64), Jonathon Brathwaite placing sixth in the 50 yard breaststroke (35.71) and Sebastian Herrera who placed sixth in the 50 yard freestyle (26.22).  The team then combined forces to place fourth in three different relay events.  The 200 yard relay team of Belanger, Herrera, Jeremiah Brathwaite and Tucker Garrett swam to a 2:06.83 finish.  Belanger, Garrett and Herrera then came back with Jonathon Brathwaite in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.50.  Finally, Belanger, Garrett and both Brathwaite brothers swam to a fourth place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:26.24.

This meet brings the swim and dive season to a close with both the men and the women placing fourth in the NAC.
