Broncos Head to Hartwick for First Swim Meet of the Season

ONEONTA, N.Y. (October 24, 2021) - The SUNY Delhi swimming and diving team traveled to Hartwick College on Saturday to compete among the likes of the host Hawks, Utica, and Saint Rose.

Alexandria Caceres came within .8 seconds of the school record in the 100-yard freestyle at 58.15 to place third, while finishing in the same spot in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.69. Jessica Roon took seventh (1:07.54) in the 100-yard freestyle and sixth place (1:15.66) for the Broncos during the 100-yard backstroke. Kitty Messina took eighth place (1:29.45) in the Women's 100-yard breaststroke and tenth (33.24) in the Women's 50-yard freestyle.

The men represented Delhi with Travis Belanger finishing tenth (58.73) in 100-yard freestyle, as well as eighth place (25.11) in the 50-yard freestyle. Jeremiah Brathwaite and Jonathon Braithwaite competed in the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke and placed sixth (1:23.31)and seventh place (1:27.28), respectively.

"Beyond excited with where the team is at for the first meet of the season," said head coach Ben Finnigan. "The women had incredible races to start off the year and the guys team is looking very strong. I can't wait for our next meet at Utica."

As aforementioned by Coach Finningan, the Broncos travel to Utica College for a Friday evening meet on Nov. 5 at 6:00 p.m.
