Broncos Beat Elmira 3-0 in Primetime Road Match

ELMIRA, N.Y. (September 26, 2018) – One week after their previous triumph, the SUNY Delhi men's soccer team earned their second straight victory Wednesday night with a 3-0 shutout win at Elmira. Brody Rettle, Matthew Cassidy and Jason Morquecho each charted goals as Delhi improved to 5-2 on the year, and 2-0 in night matches.

The Broncos wasted little to no time to get on the board, as Rettle received a pass from Sako and struck one into the left side of the net at the 9:30 mark for the 1-0 lead. While it was Delhi's lone score of the first half, the defense made it stand, not allowing a shot on goal through the first 45 minutes. Heading into the second half, the offense picked things up when Cassidy drilled a free kick that found the lower right corner at 61:45 for the 2-0 lead. Goalkeeper Marcos Andrino tallied three saves on the evening to ground any Soaring Eagles scoring chances. With victory in sight, Morquecho sealed the deal with his first career goal at 84:39, assisted by Ryan Hickey.

Sako's assist was his first of the season, notching his team-leading scoring total to 17 points. Rettle upped his scoring numbers to 12 points on four goals and a team-best four assists, as Cassidy logged his third goal of the season. Andrino picked up his second shutout of the year and improved to 5-1.

Head coach Brian Mitko's team has one more contest before closing out a promising September, welcoming Green Mountain this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
