SUNY Delhi Second in USCAA Directors Cup After Successful Fall Season

USCAA DIRECTORS CUP STANDINGS AND RELEASE

SUNY Delhi finished the fall season ranked second in the USCAA Director's Cup with 373 points. The Broncos ranked only behind St. Mary of the Woods with 476 points.

USCAA Directors Cup points are awarded for the number of sports offerings, attendance at the 2019 USCAA National Convention, and results from 2019-2020 USCAA National Championship events.

The Broncos completed another successful fall season across their eight programs, highlighted by the men's cross country team winning their fourth straight USCAA National Championship in November at Virginia Beach that featured six All-Americans, including four on the first team. Second-year Bronco Abshir Yerow (Syracuse, NY / Nottingham) won his first USCAA Individual National Championship with a time of 25:38.14. The First Team recipients also featured Lucas Reilly (Port Jervis, NY / Port Jervis), Seth Bywater (Cornwall, NY / Cornwall Central), and Bladimir Pena (Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland).

The men's golf team placed second at their USCAA Championships in October for the second straight year, finishing with four First Team All-Americans: Daniel Christy (Canton, NY / Canton Central), Alex Fisher (Great Valley, NY / Ellicottville Central), Aaron Oliver (Trumansburg, NY Trumansburg), and Zach Barrett (West Winfield, NY / Mt. Markham) On the women's side, Erin Schowerer (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside) finished second individually at USCAA's. She, along with Barrett, Christy, and Brandon Palmer (Norfolk, NY / Norwood-Norfolk) earned USCAA National All-Academic honors.

The women's cross country team placed third for the second straight year at USCAA's with three All-Americans, including one First Team finisher. Arielle Moheimani (Homer, NY / Homer) finished sixth for top-team honors, while Katerina Salcedo (Binghamton, NY / Binghamton) and Sophie Stewart (Newark Valley, NY / Newark Valley) finished on the Second Team. Moheimani, Ashley Magnifico (Bayport, NY / Bayport-Blue Point), and Jewel Pignetti (New Windsor, NY / Cornwall Central) earned USCAA National All-Academic.

The women's soccer team completed a 9-7-2 season, reaching the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Semifinals and four Broncos earning USCAA All-American status. Kelsey Innes (North Babylon, NY / North Babylon) was named to the First Team, Alexa DuBois (Hobart, NY / South Kortright Central) and Micayla Slattery (Averill Park, NY / Averill Park) to the Second Team, and Alexa Scaglione (North Babylon, NY / North Babylon) an Honorable Mention. Innes and Sara Fischetti (Treadwell, NY / Delaware Academy) both earned USCAA National All-Academic awards.

The men's soccer team had three USCAA All-Americans following a 9-8 season and qualifying for the NAC Quarterfinals. Brody Rettle (Staten Island, NY / Susan E. Wagner) was named to the Second Team, while Juan Velez (Peekskill / Peekskill, NY) and goalkeeper Corey O'Toole (Colonie, NY / Colonie Central) earned Honorable Mention.

Three women's volleyball student-athletes earned USCAA All-American honors after helping the Broncos to a 12-14 season and reaching the NAC Semifinals in their first year in the conference. Erica Prindle (Kingston, NY / Kingston) and sophomore Witchney Clersainville (Spring Valley, NY / Spring Valley) were both named USCAA First Team All-Americans, while junior Taylor Tsatsis (Neponsit, NY / St. Edmund Prep) was accorded an Honorable Mention. Prindle also earned USCAA National All-Academic honors.

The women's tennis team completed their first season under head coach Mark Birman with three student-athletes earning USCAA National All-Academic honors: Jessica Biller (Webster, NY / Webster Schroeder), Susan Hoskins (Binghamton, NY / Susquehanna Valley), and Sarah Krzyston (Delhi, NY / Delaware Academy).
