CAZENOVIA, N.Y. (October 2, 2021) - The SUNY Delhi men's soccer team fell victim to an opening-minute score and a three-goal deficit Saturday as they dropped a 3-1 NAC contest at Cazenovia. Senior Brody Rettle offered the Broncos' lone response in the 86th minute for his third goal of the season as Delhi moves to 2-8-1 and 2-2 in NAC play.

The Wildcats opened the fray pouncing on a connection from Luke Schlachter to Brandon Patterson at the one-minute mark to go ahead early. Sam Goldman followed with a score from Adrian Perez Rocha in the 35th minute to put Caz up 2-0 at halftime. Schlachter picked up Caz's third and final score of the day in the 66th minute before Rettle got Delhi on the board with his unassisted goal before full time. Junior goalkeeper Jonathan Walch tallied six saves on the day to add to his strong season in net.

Head coach EJ Reutemann's squad remains in the thick of the NAC West playoff battle, sitting in third place behind second-place Caz (3-2 NAC) and first-place SUNY Poly (4-0-1 NAC), who they are set to travel to play on Oct. 16. The Broncos have three league road matches before then, starting at SUNY Cobleskill Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., Maine Maritime Oct. 9, and Thomas Oct. 10. Late October's NAC Tournament features the top four teams from both the East and West divisions.
