ONEONTA, N.Y. (September 29, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi men's soccer team made a short trip over the hill Wednesday for a brisk evening meeting at Hartwick. A scoreless first half was countered with two Hawks second-half goals to spell out a 2-0 defeat, pitting Delhi at 2-7-1 overall.

Hartwick upped the tempo in the latter session, nearly tripling their first-half shots total. Broncos goalkeeper Jonathan Walch stood tall with five saves, but was unable to prevent the opening score off a penalty kick from Jim Mahoney in the 64th minute. Teammate Joey Bertone echoed with a goal seven minutes later, gathering a rebound in the box following a saved shot from Jimmy Noel. In all, Hartwick held a 22-1 lead in shots and 8-0 in corner kicks.

Though disappointed with the outcome, head EJ Reutemann and the Broncos have plenty to look forward to as they resume North Atlantic Conference (NAC) competition this Saturday when they travel to face Cazenovia. Delhi is 2-1 in the NAC, with a win over the Wildcats offering them sole possession of second place in the NAC West behind unbeaten SUNY Poly.
