ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (September 16, 2021) - Thursday was another grim story in the SUNY Delhi men's soccer team's one-goal driven season, suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Bard. The Raptors' Zach Burmeister's goal before halftime in the 42nd minute showcased all the offense in the evening affair. The Broncos, now 0-4-1, have seen all their defeats come down to a one-goal difference.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Walch and the defense continued what has been a steady season so far. The Raptors led in shots, 9-7, including 4-3 in shots on goal, with Walch garnering three saves. He has given up just six goals through five matches this season for a 1.20 goals allowed average and .842 save percentage.

Delhi had several close chances to tie the game in the second half. This included a shot by Aidan McLaughlin from the right side that just narrowly sailed right of the mark with roughly 35:30 remaining. Michael Williams Jr., the game-tying hero in the Broncos' 1-1 draw of SUNY Potsdam on Friday, had an opportunity that resulted in a high ball with roughly 34 minutes to play. The last major opportunity occurred in the final minute. A free kick from Cesar Cruz-Vasquez developed a series of Broncos touches that landed in the center of the box, where a running Williams was met by Bard keeper Gavin Hersey.

Head coach EJ Reutemann and his young squad have plenty to hang their hats on through a very competitive first five games. The Broncos have an opportunity to open a new chapter Saturday when they open their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) season hosting Northern Vermont Johnson at 3:30 p.m.
