DELHI, N.Y. (August 23, 2021) - First-year SUNY Delhi men's soccer head coach EJ Reutemann has announced Derek Beers as his top assistant coach for the 2021 season. Beers, a native of nearby Franklin, N.Y., competed for Reutemann at SUNY Cortland from 2016 to 2019 during his time there as an assistant coach. His experience as a defender will look to serve the Broncos well to balance a steady scoring system.

About Derek Beers:

"I am very thankful for the opportunity Coach Reutemann and Director of Athletics, Bob Backus, have given me to join the Men's Soccer staff as an Assistant Coach. It is a very exciting time to be a part of a program whom was granted a full-time Division III membership this season. I am excited to see what this season holds as we resume competition here at Delhi."

Beers competed at SUNY Cortland in soccer from 2016 to 2019 on Red Dragons squads responsible for 60 combined wins, one SUNYAC Championship in three SUNYAC Finals appearances, and three NCAA Tournaments. He graduated in 2020 with his Bachelor's in Exercise Science, and is currently pursuing his Master's from Cortland in the same field.

A native of Franklin, N.Y., Beers graduated Franklin Central School in 2016. He was a NSCAA NYS small school all-state player his senior year. Beers also played basketball, baseball, and track & field.
