Moscatiello, Murphy Each Get 4 Goals; Broncos Pull Away in Big 2nd Quarter

WATERVILLE, ME (April 10, 2022) -- SUNY Delhi Men's Lacrosse used a big 2nd quarter to break open a tight contest. The Broncos would go on to defeat Thomas College 20-3.

Delhi was in unfamilar territory, trailing Thomas when the Terriers got on the board first with just over two minutes to play in the opening quarter. This would be the only Terrier goal until the 4th quarter and only lead Thomas would hold. Brett Fischer tied the game at one with a goal just before the 1st quarter ended.

Much of the same occurred in the 2nd and 3rd quarters in Waterville as occurred in Lyndonville on Friday: the Broncos' attack would erupt. Delhi would go on a 17 to 0 run that was spread over the final three quarters. A 9-goal second quarter opened up the tied game. Benjamin Moscatiello, Jackson Murphy, and Nick Dower all had multi-goal 2nd quarters. King White and Jack McClurg also added goals in the 2nd. Delhi led Thomas 10-1 at the half.

The Broncos would make it 17-1 after three periods. Moscatiello had another multi-goal quarter and five different scorers added to the lead.

The 4th quarter scoring slowed but Delhi had the advantage, outscoring Thomas 3-2, in the final 15 minutes. Nicholas Iannucci, Nico Rivera and McClurg tallied the final goals of the game for the visiting Broncos.

Moscatiello and Murphy each provided 4 goals for Delhi. Dower and McClurg had 3 each. Greg Junge led the game with 13 shots.

Samuel Steng went 55 minutes in goal to pick up the win; making 7 saves before James Sullivan was brought in for relief. Sullivan made one save.

The Broncos had a big advantage in shot (70-17) and ground balls won (59-21). As a team, Delhi went 20-24 on faceoffs.

With the win in Waterville, Delhi record sits at 8-5 overall and an unblemished 7-0 in NAC play. They will return to divisional play Saturday April 16 for a 3:30PM game at SUNY Poly.
