MLAX Travel to Newburgh: Can't Overcome Knights

NEWBURGH, NY (March 17, 2022) -- SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse was on the road again as they made the trip to Newburgh to play the Mount Saint Mary Knights. The Broncos led at the halfway point but a 5-goal third period by the Knights was too much to overcome for the Broncos; eventually falling 10-8.

Delhi got things going early, with King White scoring the opening goal just 48 seconds into the game. Logan Bauer made it 2-0 in favor of Delhi off an assist from Brandon McGrath. The Broncos would fall behind after three straight goals by Mount Saint Mary. Benjamin Moscatiello tied it up just before the end of the quarter.

Delhi would take a 3-goal lead; scores by White, Nicholas Iannucci and White again gave them the cushion. The Knights' Mike Travers put two in the back of the net to make it 6-5 Delhi going into the halftime break. Unfortunately, the Knights continued to use that momentum by scoring another five unanswered goals and shut out the Broncos in the 3rd quarter.

Delhi pitched a shutout of their own in the 4th quarter but the goals by McGarth and Jackson Murphy weren't enough to overtake the Knights.

Samuel Steng went the distance in goal; recording 11 saves. Moscatiello led the Broncos with 10 shots.

SUNY Delhi will host SUNY Cobleskill in North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday March 19. The game will begin at noon.
