Broncos Fall at New Paltz, Five Game Win Streak Snapped

NEW PALTZ, NY (April 5, 2022) -- Delhi Men's Lacrosse had their five game winning streak snapped when they traveled to New Paltz for the final non-conference match-up of the season. A big first and fourth quarter proved too much for the Broncos to overcome.

New Paltz opened the game's scoring and built a 3-0 cushion with less than 4 minutes to go in the quarter. A Logan Bauer, man-up goal got Delhi on the board and made it 3-1 in favor of the home team. The Broncos got the last goal of the quarter from Nico Rivera but unfortunately New Paltz had run the score to 6-1. Rivera's goal made it a 4-goal lead for New Paltz.

Two goals in the first minute grew the deficit to 8-2. Bauer got his second goal on an assist from King White. Benjamin Moscatiello scored two minutes later. Another goal by the home team took the game into halftime. Delhi trailed 9-4.

Delhi's Brandon McGrath scored the first and last goals of the 3rd period but three New Paltz goals were squeezed between and the Broncos still trailed 12-6.

Another big, final quarter pushed the game out of reach. New Paltz hit on the next five goals. Bauer got his final goal with just under 8 minutes left in the game. Jackson Murphy finished the game's scoring for Delhi.

Statistically, the game was fairly even across the board. Samuel Steng made 10 saves in goals for the Broncos before giving way to James Sullivan who made one save in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Greg Junge tallied two assists on the evening. Moscatiello tied for the game-high for shots with 11.

It is conference play the rest of the way for SUNY Delhi. They take their perfect 5-0 conference record on the road for two games this weekend. First, NVU-Lyndon will play host on Friday April 8 (4PM) and will be followed by a game at Thomas on Sunday April 10 (11AM).
