Broncos Open Conference Play, Beat Canton on the Road

CANTON, NY (March 14, 2022) -- Men's lacrosse took to the road again to open up North Atlantic Conference play against SUNY Canton. Starting the day at 0-3 against the Roos, the Broncos used a sustained attack and came out 17-7 winners; grabbing win #1 for the season.

Logan Bauer got the scoring started for Delhi just under 2 minutes into the game and got his 2nd of 4 goals on the afternoon with 8:31 left in the 1st quarter. Just 7 seconds later, the Broncos took a 3-0 lead with a goal by Nick Dower. The Broncos would get 5 goals in the first quarter and would lead 5-1 entering the 2nd quarter.

Canton would strike first in the 2nd but that didn't put Delhi off; pumping in 5 more goals from 5 different players to lead 10-2 at the half.

The Broncos defense pitched a 3rd quarter shutout while the Broncos attack added 2 goals from Nico Rivera and Bauer within a minute of each other. Delhi built a 12-2 lead with only 15 minutes to play.

Bauer got his last goal on the day to start things off in the final frame. Canton and Delhi would go back and forth on the next 3 goals before Delhi rolled off three straight goals, stretching the lead to 17-4. Three late goals by the Roos of Canton ended the scoring and the game at 17-7.

The Broncos lead in most statisical categories: shots (62), forced turnovers (27), face offs won (17), ground balls (45),  and clears (17).

King White (2), Benjamin Moscatiello (3), Greg Junge (2), and Nick Dower (2) all joined Bauer with multi-goal games. Brandon McGrath and Moscatiello got two assists each.

Samuel Steng got the win in goal while making 8 saves and allowing only 2 goals. James Sullivan entered at the start of the 3rd quarter and made nine 2nd-half saves.

The Broncos won't wait too long to get back at it with another away trip to Newburgh, NY. Mount Saint Mary awaits Delhi on March 17 for a 6PM start.
